COVID-19 Response

The ABCs has furloughed our rural educators until further notice, with full pay and health benefits. In the meantime, the ABCs has pivoted to responding to the COVID-19 crisis by commissioning 2-layer cotton washable and reusable face masks. These are being distributed to vulnerable community members, community health workers, police, and others in need in and around Funyula, Busia County, where we are headquartered.As of July 16, we are also partnering with Kenya Works Makini Pad to distribute free washable-reusable sanitary pads to girls in need. A devastating consequence of COVID is that girls and women living in poverty are having an even more difficult time accessing sanitary products, and these pads, made in Kenya, are a sustainable solution.
